Health News Alert – AMA Will Try To Restrict What Doctors Say To Public Media

This is timely. Having just published a post a few hours ago about modern medicine’s mishandling the treatment of chronic diseases, now the AMA apparently wants to restrict what doctors can say in the public media. This seems all too similar to state governors banning state scientists from talking about climate change.

In my previous post, I was not optimistic about the medical establishment admitting it was wrong about chronic disease treatment and changing direction towards prevention. After finishing medical school, too many doctors seem to think they are a superior race, gods among men, that should never be questioned. The only bright point I saw was the very small but growing number of doctors who were willing to at least look at and talk about other treatment possibilities.

The AMA wants no cracks in its facade. Anything other than a totally united front, with all doctors publicly agreeing that the official treatment guidelines are best, will not be tolerated. I have heard rumors for years that the licensing body for nutritionists had similar strict policing policies, threatening to revoke licenses of any nutritionists recommending any treatments not officially sanctioned.

Theses are the kind of actions, by the people most able to make an immediate difference, that strangle change in light of new evidence. This is why the epidemic of chronic diseases will continue to grow and become ever more expensive. This is why we will continue to spend billions of dollars every year treating the symptoms of chronic diseases when simply eating a healthy whole food diet would all but eliminate the diseases.
